How To Keep Rats Out Of Your Home
Posted on September 4th, 2013Unfortunately wherever you live, rats and mice are present.
Our product works wonders on dead rat odor anywhere in your home and exterminators across the world use our product. Check out our tips to keep rats and mice out of your home.
How do you know if you have rats or mice:
- You will notice droppings in your home or garage.
- Sprinkle powder around the floor or anywhere you suspect rats, put a piece of food in the middle and see if you see tracks the next day from rats or mice.
- Check your pantry for holes or chewed edges on food packages. Also shredded paper or tooth marks are a good indication you have rats or mice.
- Listen for scratching in walls or attics especially at night.
In order to avoid having rats or mice invade your home and wreak havoc, you should follow these helpful tips:
- Keep garbage can lids tightly covered. Feed dogs and cats in a dish and take up the food they don’t eat. Don’t leave any reason for rats and mice to visit your yard.
- Don’t provide hiding spaces for rats or mice. Pull weeds, remove trash and any sort of junk you may have in your yard. You should also store wood and other materials a foot off the ground and never up against the house.
- Keep any entryways to your home closed up with screens and make sure the screens do not have holes in them. Mice can get through the tiniest of holes. Caulk or cement around pipes and cables where they can pass through walls.
- You can use poison or bait traps in your home. Put them in along the walls or cupboards where mice might get in. Remember to keep Clear The Air Odor Eliminator Bags handy if a rat or mouse dies behind a wall or inaccessible area.

Odor Crisis? Check Out What Other Clear The Air Customers Are Saying
Posted on July 24th, 2013Customer testimonials – our product WORKS!
Clear The Air knows that when you purchase a new product, nothing helps to make your decision than from other people’s opinions. We would like to share some customer testimonials on our various products we offer:
My dog was at the losing end of a confrontation with a skunk. Before I realized it, he had run thought the house rubbing on everything. The odor was stifling. After using “Clear the Air” I noticed a huge improvement the next day. You have a great product. ~Lyle
Hi Pat, when I got home the package was there, yay! I put them in my stinky bathroom last night where we think a possum or some other creature has died in between our walls.. it has been horrible the last few days and we couldn’t afford to hammer the walls down to look for it…. my son says this morning it smells a lot better and he was surprised that your product works so well.. a day or two more we’re hoping it will be back to normal.. thanks again for a great product! ~Janet
LOVE your stuff! A “bonus” is when you vacuum up the granules, they stay in the vacuum and I no longer smell the dog every time I vacuum! When dumping the filter, I NEVER dump the granules! Vacuuming is now not a “smelly” job. ~Yvonne S.
I used your Odor Removing Granules and I have to say they work great! I have tried just about everything on the market to get rid of cat urine smell and nothing has worked like your product. ~Eileen I.
As VOCs relate to cancer, I am overjoyed that this takes them out. Everyone should get a kit when they buy a new house, paint a room or stain a deck. I actually used two socks filled with granules in the guest room after I painted with a “low” VOC paint…no smell by morning…fabulous- and healthy! Thanks. ~Scottie

How To Keep Rats Out Of Your Home And Yard
Posted on April 11th, 2013Don’t let rats invade your home.
Both rats and mice can cause major destruction to your home. Clear the Air would like to share some tips to avoid a rat infestation in your home.
First you need to check to see if you have rats. Look to see if you see mouse or rat droppings. In your yard, you can check weedy places, under boards and dog houses or near garbage cans to see if a rat has made a burrow or nest. Also any holes or edges around your home and yard with chewed edges are sure signs of a rat or mouse.
Rats and mice breed fast. A mouse can have several young when she’s two months old. Then, two months later, her young will breed. In the meantime, the mother will produce another litter. So you must keep working to get rid of them. Here are some tips to keeping them out of your property:
- Keep garbage in tightly covered cans. Feed dogs and cats in a dish, then take up the food they don’t eat. Don’t leave it out for rats and mice.
- Remove trash, old boards, weeds and junk cars. Rats and mice like to hide in such places. Don’t pile wood against the house. Store wood and other materials at least a foot off the ground.
- Keep doors closed. Cover windows with screens. One-fourth inch or smaller mesh will keep rats and mice out. Keep floor drains tightly sealed. Cement or caulk around pipes and cables where they pass through walls. Mice can get through any hole that will admit the tip of your little finger.
- If you use poison or a trap to kill your rats, chances are the rat will die in the wall of your home. This can cause a horrendous odor and thankfully Clear the Air has an easy solution to rid your home of that dead rat odor. Click here to learn more about eliminating dead rodent odor.
- Birdhouses and seed should be on poles and in trays rats can’t get.
- Roof rats get into your house from tree branches that hang over the roof. Keep trees cut back and cover any openings in the eves.

Posted on April 3rd, 2013Summer is around the bend and it is time to plan those fun family vacations with the RV.
If you haven’t been in your RV for a while throughout the winter months, you may experience some foul odors lurking in your RV when you go to get it ready for the warmer months.
Tobacco smoke, kitchen, road kill, skunk, gasoline, smog, “doggie”, urine, mold/mildew, bathroom, and holding tank odors are common odors that stink up our RVs. Air fresheners just mask the odors and often smell worse than the offensive odor. RV detailing is expensive, and shampooing often just spreads the smell around.
Earth Care Odor Remover Bags can simply be hung in your RV and they will completely eliminate all these odors. Earth Care draws in odors like a powerful magnet. The odors are adsorbed, and neutralized without any fragrances. It is made from an all-natural mineral, is non-toxic, biodegradable and safe for Planet Earth.
Clear the Air is also safe around children and pets even if eaten. It does not have to come into contact with odor producer to eliminate the odor. Earth Care does not cover up odors it literally “clears the air” leaving the air fresh and clean.

How Do I Know If I Have Rodents In My Home?
Posted on February 6th, 2013Mice, rats and other rodents can cause a lot of damage in your home. Not only do they carry and spread disease, they can chew on everything causing property damage and even risk of fire when chewing on electrical wiring.
Clear the Air would like to share some tips on how to find out if you have a rodent infestation in your home. Remember to use our Clear the Air Odor Eliminator Bag to eliminate any dead rodent odors from your home, garage, shed or anywhere else.
Droppings of feces are one of the easiest ways to know you have an infestation. You may notice them in your garage on the rafters, on boxes, or anywhere else high up the rodents are running around.
Use a black light to see rodent urine. It will be a bluish to yellowish white color. Not all fluorescent colors you see under black light in your home may be rodent urine. Many bleaches and lubricating oil will show up under black light too.
Mice mark their trail with their urine for other mice to follow their tracks to food sources. If you find a urine trail into your home, make sure to block the entrance to avoid mice from getting in.
Check corners in your home for food stashes and nests made by mice and/or rats. Another way to find out if you have rodents in your home is to look for chewed corners of boxes and wires.
If you have a rat or mouse die in your home, the odor can be so bad you can’t be in your home. Fortunately our Clear the Air Bags don’t have to come in contact with the odor producer, thus avoiding the huge task of taking down drywall to remove the dead carcass. All you have to do is simply hang the bag where the odor is strongest and within 24 hours the odor is eliminated. Sometimes two bags may have to be used if the dead rodent odor is extremely strong.

Keep Rodents Out Of Your RV
Posted on January 17th, 2013While your RV is in storage this winter, you will want to keep unwanted animals out of your camper. We have some helpful tips from Ehow.com about deterring rodents from your RV.
Remember, if you have the unfortunate experience of opening your RV to find rodents have made their home in your RV for the last few months, eliminate the odor with our collection of Odor Eliminator Products.
Mice and other rodents frequently enter campers and cause damage to the interior. Mice enter through small holes in the exterior of the camper; these holes are usually located on the underside of the structure. Pest control precautions are especially necessary before storing your camper for the season.
What you’ll need to deter rodents from your RV – A can of expandable foam, glue traps and ultrasonic rodent deterrent.
- First you will want to search the exterior of the camper for any holes.
- If you find any, point the can of expandable foam at the holes. Depress the can’s nozzle, and fill the holes with expandable foam. Repeat this process around all unwanted openings.
- Next you will want to place mousetraps around the outside of the camper. This will hinder the mice from entering your camper.
- You might want to also install an ultrasonic rodent-control-device. These devices emit sounds that deter mice from entering the camper.
- Lastly, spread mothballs around the inside of the camper. Please note, if you place mothballs inside the camper AND place your Odor Eliminator Bags in the camper, the bags will work to eliminate the moth ball odor, thus less efficiently removing any dead rodent odors. Our suggestion is to take the moth balls out of your RV should you already have odors from rodents, then place the Odor Eliminator Bags in the camper.
Have questions about odors in your RV? Please contact our customer service (located in the USA) and we’d be happy to help answer any questions you may have.

Prepare Your Home For The Holidays
Posted on December 11th, 2012Christmas is just around the corner and as family and friends congregate in your home, there are some important tips to keep in mind to prepare your home for the holidays.
We would like to share a few of those “Preparing Your Home For The Holidays” tips from Popular Mechanics with you:
1. Clean the microwave. Appliances take a beating during this holiday, but there’s still time to make a few pre-holiday adjustments. Take out the microwave’s rotating tray and scrub it or pop it into the dishwasher. Wipe down the microwave’s interior with a soft cloth and a little soapy water. Make sure its air vents are clear of dust and grease.
2. Don’t clean the oven. The self-clean cycle is so stressful on the appliance that it could cause it to fail, right before you need it most. Give a quick cleaning around the top burner elements and leave the rest be. Save the big cleanup until leftovers are safety nestled in the fridge.
3. Inspect the refrigerator. It’s liable to be opened and closed more times on this one day than it is in a couple of weeks of normal use. Check for the following problems:
* Tighten screws on any loose door handles.
* Fix loose or misaligned door gaskets. Take a nut driver or socket and wrench, loosen all hex head gasket screws, reposition the gasket using a putty knife to shove it into position and retighten. Consider installing a new gasket after the holidays.
* Clear blocked freezer vents. Reposition food in the freezer compartment to clear area around vents.
* Clear cold air vents. Reposition food in fresh food compartment to allow cold air from freezer to move more freely. Gain critically needed space by putting all drinks on ice in a cooler.
* Replace burned out lights with an appliance bulb, typically a clear 40-watt bulb sized for appliance use–a $3 item at hardware stores and home centers. If the fresh food compartment is still dark after its replacement, that usually indicates a failed door switch.
4. Prepare vacuum cleaners. Empty canisters or replace bags on these appliances and position them in a hall closet or other location for rapid deployment.
5. Clean drip coffeemakers. If you haven’t recently checked the drip opening (and the area around it), you may be unpleasantly surprised. Unplug the coffeemaker and turn it upside down. If the drip opening looks like it’s covered in asphalt, clean it with a soft cloth and a solution of warm water and dish detergent. It may take several tries to get the crud off.
6. Inspect the dishwasher. Check the strainer/drain area in the bottom of the wash tub (it’s located under the spray arm). Remove food debris and wipe off detergent residue. Remove utensils and any bits of plastic or glass that you find in the bottom of the dishwasher tub. Wipe detergent residue, mold and slime off the door gasket and around the rim of the door, as well as the latch arm that locks the door.
7. Sharpen knives. Tuning up kitchen knives is easy, so don’t settle for hacking the bird when you can carve it like a pro.
8. Tune up cabinets. A few minutes with a screwdriver is all it takes to whip loose parts into shape. Tighten loose cabinet hinges. Tighten the screws that mount to the door and to the cabinet wall. While you’re at it, tighten loose drawer and door pulls and drawer slides. If kitchen drawers are over-stuffed and liable to jam in the middle of the cooking frenzy, now’s the time to take out some of the clutter.
9. Take care of the toilet. Not to get too graphic here, but toilets see a tougher workout than any other fixture in the house, especially when guests pull up a seat. Now’s the time to take care of poor flushing action or a toilet that flushes by itself by replacing the flapper valve or the entire flush mechanism. If the toilet rocks slightly, try tightening its mounting bolts. If you lift the bolt caps and find severely corroded fasteners (don’t be surprised) leave well enough alone and let it go until after the holidays.
10. Replace burned out light bulbs. Pay close attention to lights that serve the front entrance and walkway that leads to the front door or other busy entrances.
11. Make your home slip- and fall-proof. Fix loose treads on exterior steps, loose deck boards or loose pavers on front walkways. Take care of all other tripping/falling hazards while you’re at it, like using double-sided tape to stick down slippery rugs. Tighten the mounting screws on loose handrails.
12. Bring in firewood. Stack it and let it dry for a few days before lighting that cheerful holiday blaze. Test run gas fireplaces before the big day, especially if they haven’t been used since last winter. Split kindling for the holiday fire safely. Hold the kindling in place using a scrap of wood with a roofing nail driven through its end. Jab the nail into the kindling you’re splitting to hold it in place and to keep your hand safely away from the hatchet or axe.
13. Child-proof your home. Make all child-safety preparations in advance, such as covering electrical outlets, moving lamps and vases away from table edges and making provisions to block stairways to prevent hazardous falls.
14. Change smoke detector/CO detector batteries.
15. Keep jumper cables on hand, especially if you’re expecting a big crowd. Always seems somebody’s got a bad battery, and it’s usually the car that will block everybody in the driveway.
16. Double-check your first aid kit. At the least you should have burn cream, ice packs and bandages to deal with kitchen-related cuts.
17. Keep a fire extinguisher handy in the kitchen.

Tick Removal For Your Pets
Posted on July 30th, 2012Removing ticks from your pets – what you need to know!
Ewe, it is flea and tick season! Keep fleas and ticks away with our helpful tips.
Need help on removing those pesky ticks your dog and cat pick up from outside? Check out ASPCA’s article:
So, you’ve found a tick on your pet—how do you deal with it? While it’s important to get these little suckers off quickly, ASPCA veterinarians advise that you stay calm and don’t rush it. Moving too fast when removing a tick could potentially create more problems, both for your pet and for you.
While the following instructions employ tweezers, be aware that there are some very good products on the market designed specifically for safe tick removal. If you live in a tick-heavy area or are taking your pets to a place where they are likely to get ticks, it’s a good idea to buy one of these tools and have it on hand. They generally work better than tweezers at getting out the whole tick, and are relatively inexpensive.
Step-by-Step Tick Removal Instructions
Step 1—Prepare its Final Resting Place – Throwing a tick in the trash or flushing it down the toilet will not kill it, and it’s actually best to hold on to it for awhile for veterinary testing in case your pet falls ill from the bite. Be ready with somewhere to put the tick after you’ve removed it—the best option is a screw-top jar containing some rubbing alcohol.
Step 2—Don’t Bare-Hand It – Put on latex or rubber gloves so you’ll never have direct contact with the tick or your pet’s bite area. Ticks can carry infective agents that may enter your bloodstream through breaks in your skin or through mucous membranes (if you touch your eyes, nostrils or mouth).
Step 3—Grab a Partner – You don’t want your pet squirming away before you’re finished, so if possible, have a helper on hand to distract, soothe or hold her still.
Step 4—The Removal – Treat the bite area with rubbing alcohol and, using a pair of tweezers, grasp the tick as close to the animal’s skin as possible. Pull straight upwards with steady, even pressure. Place the tick in your jar.
- Do not twist or jerk the tick! This may leave the mouth-parts embedded in your pet, or cause the tick to regurgitate infective fluids.
- Do not squeeze or crush the body of the tick, because its fluids (saliva and gut contents) may contain infective organisms.
Step 5—All that Remains – Sometimes, in spite of doing everything right, a tick’s mouth-parts will get left behind in your pet’s skin. If the area doesn’t appear red or inflamed, the best thing to do is to disinfect it and not to try to take the mouth-parts out. A warm compress to the area might help the body expel them, but do not go at it with tweezers.
Step 6—Clean Up – Thoroughly disinfect the bite site and wash your hands with soap and water (even though you were wearing gloves). Sterilize your tweezers with alcohol or by carefully running them over a flame.
Step 7—Keep Watch – Over the next few weeks, closely monitor the bite area for any signs of localized infection. If the area is already red and inflamed, or becomes so later, please bring your pet—and your jarred tick—to your veterinarian for evaluation.
