Alabama Hills is just off the 395 on the way to Bishop CA.  BLM land at its best, free but dry camping.  Fabulous views of Mt. Whitney.  The road is off the road to Mt Whitney portal, it is dirt but doable in our 35′ rig.  Stop at the visitor center as you enter Lone Pine which is on your right coming from the south,  they can give you information on Alabama Hills.  Definitely dog friendly we let our dogs run off leash, we only saw about 5 cars go by each day we were there. The bad part, it is HOT in the summer suggest this spot in the winter.  We were there in July and the days were spent in the RV with AC on, the mornings and evenings were heavenly.

Early morning walk with dogs, Iris is out there

The RV looks little hidden in the huge rocks.

The campsite we had is where scenes from Iron Man were filmed. Many movies filmed here, there is a Film Museum to visit near by.

Mt Whitney…you can see the road up to the portal. BTW Mt Whitney is the tallest mountain in continental US.

Morning coffee and view from the coach…beautiful last day as we head on up 395 toward June Lake….
