How To Keep Pests Out Of Your Home
Posted on October 3rd, 2013No one likes pests in their home.
Unfortunately sometimes when we get rid of pests, such as mice and rodents, their odor can linger.
Clear The Air Odor Eliminators will eliminate those odors easily and safely. Check out our tips to keep pests out of your home:
Rodents and raccoons:
- Raw bacon or peanut butter makes good bait for a mousetrap. Make sure a mouse will have to tug the trap to remove the bait. If you’re using peanut butter, dab some on the triggering device and let it harden before setting the trap. If bacon is your bait, tie it around the triggering device.
- If a raccoon sets up housekeeping in your attic or chimney, chemical repellants such as oil of mustard, are temporarily effective. (The smell may bother you as much as it does the raccoon.) Your best bet is to let the animal leave, and then cover its entrance hole with wire mesh so that it cannot return.
- To keep rodents out of your house, seal every opening they could squeeze through. Some need less than 1/4 inch of space. Put poison in deep cracks or holes, and stuff them with steel wool or scouring pads pushed in with a screwdriver. Close the spaces with spackling compound mixed with steel wool fragments.
Insects:
- If your home becomes infested with fleas, vacuum rugs thoroughly before spraying, and throw the dust bag out at once.
- Keep ants away from your home with a concoction of borax and sugar. Mix 1 cup sugar and 1 cup borax in a quart jar. Punch holes in the jar’s lid, and sprinkle the mixture outdoors around the foundation of your home and around the baseboards inside your house. The ants are attracted by the sugar and poisoned by the borax.
- If you have cockroaches, sprinkle borax powder in the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Avoid sprinkling where children and pets could be affected.

5 Ways Pests Are Getting Into Your Home
Posted on September 20th, 2013If you have a problem with rats and mice getting into your home, you will want to read further!
If mice and rats seem to keep making themselves at home where you live, chances are they are getting in through these entry ways:
- Holes in the wall – search for any gaps around anything that passes through your walls such as plumbing, AC lines, gas lines, phone and TV cables and exhaust vents. Gaps in siding and around the trim of your home are another place small pests will get in.
- Holes in screens – look for any torn screens or worn out weather stripping that will provide a big enough entryway for any type of pest. Make sure the rubber weather stripping under your garage door seals tightly to the floor. This is a perfect way for mice and rats to make their way in.
- Basements, garages and attics – on a sunny day, peek your head into any of these rooms and look for light peeking into the dark room through any holes. A heavy concentration of cobwebs indoors will also indicate an entry point.
- Wood piles or bushes – Anything that is outside and is touching your home is a great way for rats and mice to make their way to your home easily. Trim back your branches and store your firewood away from the side of your house.
- Roof vents – a missing or chewed through screen on a roof vent will let all sorts of rodents into your home.
Remember if you have a pest infestation in your home and they start to die, make sure to use Clear The Air Dead Rodent Odor Eliminator!

How To Keep Rats Out Of Your Home
Posted on September 4th, 2013Unfortunately wherever you live, rats and mice are present.
Our product works wonders on dead rat odor anywhere in your home and exterminators across the world use our product. Check out our tips to keep rats and mice out of your home.
How do you know if you have rats or mice:
- You will notice droppings in your home or garage.
- Sprinkle powder around the floor or anywhere you suspect rats, put a piece of food in the middle and see if you see tracks the next day from rats or mice.
- Check your pantry for holes or chewed edges on food packages. Also shredded paper or tooth marks are a good indication you have rats or mice.
- Listen for scratching in walls or attics especially at night.
In order to avoid having rats or mice invade your home and wreak havoc, you should follow these helpful tips:
- Keep garbage can lids tightly covered. Feed dogs and cats in a dish and take up the food they don’t eat. Don’t leave any reason for rats and mice to visit your yard.
- Don’t provide hiding spaces for rats or mice. Pull weeds, remove trash and any sort of junk you may have in your yard. You should also store wood and other materials a foot off the ground and never up against the house.
- Keep any entryways to your home closed up with screens and make sure the screens do not have holes in them. Mice can get through the tiniest of holes. Caulk or cement around pipes and cables where they can pass through walls.
- You can use poison or bait traps in your home. Put them in along the walls or cupboards where mice might get in. Remember to keep Clear The Air Odor Eliminator Bags handy if a rat or mouse dies behind a wall or inaccessible area.

Hi Pat, when I got home the package was there, yay! I put them in my stinky bathroom last night where we think a possum or some other creature has died in between our walls.. it has been horrible the last few days and we couldn’t afford to hammer the walls down to look for it…. my son says this morning it smells a lot better and he was surprised that your product works so well.. a day or two more we’re hoping it will be back to normal.. thanks again for a great product! ~Janet
LOVE your stuff! A “bonus” is when you vacuum up the granules, they stay in the vacuum and I no longer smell the dog every time I vacuum! When dumping the filter, I NEVER dump the granules! Vacuuming is now not a “smelly” job. ~Yvonne S.
I used your Odor Removing Granules and I have to say they work great! I have tried just about everything on the market to get rid of cat urine smell and nothing has worked like your product. ~Eileen I.
As VOCs relate to cancer, I am overjoyed that this takes them out. Everyone should get a kit when they buy a new house, paint a room or stain a deck. I actually used two socks filled with granules in the guest room after I painted with a “low” VOC paint…no smell by morning…fabulous- and healthy! Thanks. ~Scottie
