Posted on August 2nd, 2021Do you have a senior kitty? Check out our helpful tips to ensure your older kitty is happy and healthy:
Schedule regular check ups with the vet – Wellness checks help to ensure your kitty is has optimum health. This will help detect small changes in health and make sure you are preventing disease.
Be alert to changes in weight. Both weight gain and loss should be mentioned to your veterinarian. Weight loss in older cats can be a sign something is wrong such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, or intestinal disease.
Watch for signs of pain – If your kitty has difficulty going up and down stairs and jumping up to his food bowl, talk to your veterinarian.
Monitor the litter box – Make sure your kitties stool is normal and there is the consistent amount of urine in the litter boxes. Also if your cat is missing the litter box, there may be underlying issues your veterinarian can help you with to make your kitty feel better.
If you have any concerns about the health of your older kitty, please call your vet to schedule an exam.
